Why does it feel so hard to use a car seat correctly?
Don't feel bad that you don’t know what you don’t know! Child restraints aka car seats are highly engineered safety devices, manufactured by more than 15 different companies, each with different rules about use. There are more than 30 vehicle manufacturers in the US, also each with their own rules about child restraint use. With a little bit of guidance, you can be confident you're keeping your child as safe as possible in the car.
How did you get involved with car seat education?
My passion for child passenger safety began when I was a nanny and flourished while working as a child welfare social worker. I completed the SafeKids Worldwide Child Passenger Safety Technician certification in 2019. Over the past four years I have reveled in growing my knowledge through continuous ongoing training, participating in community service events, and assisting families and individuals to select the best car seat for their needs, install it properly, and harness their child safely.
What should I expect from my car seat check session?
We will meet either at your home (within 5 miles of Belmont, MA) or at another safe location such as a local parking lot, where we will be able to move around your vehicle. We will review important aspects of your child restraint and vehicle manuals, examine your current installation, inspect your child restraint for any issues, and reinstall the child restraint together. You will be the last person to touch the installation, and we will work together to ensure that all of your questions are answered.
Does my child need to be present?
Ideally we will harness your child in the seat as part of the appointment. If the baby has not been born yet, or isn't present for the visit, we will harness a doll together.

Boston Area Hospital Visit
45 minutes in person
We will check the installation of your Rear Facing Only or Rear Facing Convertible car seat in the hospital parking lot, as well as either practice harnessing a doll or your newborn. Includes photos review prior to discharge if needed.
$75 + parking fees

Shopping Consult
30 minutes via Telehealth
I can help you shop for your car seat given the specific needs of your family, and advise on unique aspects of your vehicle or passenger situation

An opportunity to get individualized instruction on the basics of car seat safety. A wonderful opportunity to get grandparents or other caregivers involved, or as an activity for mom-friends, etc.

In Person Shopping
Take me with you to the store! Depending on where you are shopping, the store employees may or may not be CPSTs or up to date on the most current recommendations. I can shop with you and answer questions about car seats, as well as consult on other registry items such as strollers, baby carriers, etc.
